Rocky Mountain Family Photographers

Why Golden BC is the ideal place for your mountain family portraits.

Welcome to The Rocky Mountains…

… and to my hometown, Golden BC. I live and operate my photography business here for probably the same reasons you want to visit. Each year, many travelers visit our area to enjoy the Rocky Mountains with their families. Golden BC is for people who love to spend time outdoors and prefer to live in a quiet community.

The Town of Golden is a small ski town nestled at the intersection of The Rocky, The Selkirk, and The Purcell Mountains.  For this reason, Golden BC is truly one of the most beautiful places in the world. I think that your visit here is the best time to book Candid Family Portraits or Your Baby’s First Year sessions in the mountains.

Whatever inspired you to visit Golden BC/Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, you should consider setting time aside for family portraits while you are here. The Rocky Mountains are one of the most beautiful sceneries in the world and make the perfect backdrop for portraits.

Rocky Mountain Family Photographers FAQ

How do I book my Rocky Mountain family photography?

The first thing you have to do is submit an inquiry below. Then, we can plan your Rocky Mountain portraits and decide how you would like to display them afterward.

Your session fee includes your pre-consultation, your photography time, and a viewing/ordering appointment. All printed and digital images are sold separately and you can find more information about what is included here.

Where will we take our portraits?

You can request a certain location or if you aren’t sure I always have a few great Rocky Mountain locations on hand. Lots of people do their portraits outdoors and lots do them indoors as well. There are endless options and I will help you figure out what suits you best.

How will my pre-consultation and viewing/ordering appointments work if I am out of town?

Video meetings can easily be arranged. This option works well for people who are only in the Rocky Mountains for a few days or live outside of Golden. Any print products ordered can easily be shipped within Canada and the US.

*In some cases with enough notice I can offer same or next day service. Please let me know as far in advance as possible if you would like to request this.

What is a Rocky Mountain family photography session like?

During your Rocky Mountain family portrait session is your time to relax and enjoy time with your loved ones. Family photography sessions are easy-going with lots of chatting and movement.

Rocky Mountain family photographs are perfect for families who feel at home in the mountains and embrace the outdoors.

What about my kids? They love to run around and be busy ….

Kids are encouraged to run around and have fun during photo sessions. They are free to be themselves and you are free not to have to worry about them sitting still. We play lots of games and move around a lot so they are entertained and having fun while also creating beautiful portraits without even knowing it. That being said, if things really go south and the kids are in full meltdown we can try your photo session again the next day at no extra charge.

What if I’m nervous about being in front of the camera?

That is OK and really normal. Over the years, I have developed my portrait sessions so they feel comfortable and casual. My photography sessions are designed to make you feel comfortable, create authentic moments and to capture real emotions.

As your Rocky Mountain family photographer, my job is to help you relax and be yourself. One of the biggest things that has helped my Client’s feel comfortable is to help them feel prepared. All of the information you will need to know can be found in The Client Guide and will also be given to you in a Welcome Guide upon booking.

Can I see a previous client’s gallery?

Of cours, there are lots of stories in my Journal or you can look at the Gallery here.

How far in advance should I book?

As soon as you know approximate dates of when you will be in the Rocky Mountains, get in touch. Often times, people submit their session fee to officially book with Jena Lee Photographs and then we finalize an exact date/time closer to the time. The amount of portrait sessions/month is limited and book up very quickly, so get in touch to secure your spot.

*Please note that Jena Lee Photographs is located in Golden BC but frequently serves the surrounding area. This includes Revelstoke, Invermere, Field, Banff, Canmore, and Calgary.
