Winter Family Portraits
Golden BC / Rocky Mountains
Winter family portrait time is here in the Golden BC Rocky Mountains. Our town is equally as beautiful in the Winter months as it is the rest of the year. The frozen Rocky Mountains make a gorgeous and distinctive background for portraits. Winter is perfect for both Candid Family Portraits and Your Baby’s First Year photography bundles. Winter family portraits are for those who love to bundle up and snuggle their loved ones to stay warm. I don’t know about you, but I love to cozy up on a cold Winter day… just like these guys.
Winter Family Portraits
For this family’s candid portrait session, we decided to walk into the forest just outside of their home to enjoy some hot chocolate and family time. A casual activity like this is the perfect way to create candid and authentic moments for your photographs. During the cold months, hot chocolate and blankets are a great addition to your winter family portraits. They give you something to do while in front of the camera. Sometimes this helps if you are a bit nervous. My job as your Photographer is to make your portrait session feel easy and comfortable. I try my best to keep you moving and warm too!
If you live or are visiting Golden BC, it’s likely that you love the Winter. Winter family portraits are a unique part of living/visiting here. They are a bit different than most of the family portraits we are used to seeing. With winter being such a big part of our lives here in the Golden BC Rocky Mountains, why not consider winter family portraits?
Winter Family Portrait Ideas
Winter family portraits can be anything you want them to be. I love it when families choose an activity or a location important to them. It makes your portraits that much more you. In the Golden BC Rocky Mountains, there are endless opportunities for winter family portraits. Here are a few suggestions to get you started:
Apres Ski Hot Chocolate / A Snowy Winter Stroll / Walking to see the Christmas Lights / Baking Holiday Treats Together / A Morning Cross Country Ski / Ice Skating / Visiting with Grandma and Grandpa / Building A Snow Fort / Warming Up By The Fire
Printing Your Winter Family Portraits
After they had their portraits taken, this family chose their favourite image to display as Wall Art and then printed the rest in The Leather Heirloom Album. Typically, most of my clients end up loving the majority of their images. Most families that I work with select one or two favourite images for hanging on the walls and put the rest in a Hardcover Book or Heirloom Album. Prints, Wall Art, Books, and Albums are an enjoyable way to share your images when friends and family come over to visit. There is nothing quite like having your winter family portraits printed out to hold, flip through, and pass around the group.
