BIRTH PHOTOGRAPHY

BOOK ME

Birth Photography

Each birth story is a once in a lifetime experience for a parent and their arriving child. My role as your birth photographer is to tactfully document the genuine moments of your birth story, from labour and delivery to your very first moments together.

You will be left with meaningful, honest, and beautiful birth photography that lasts a lifetime.

• What is birth photography?

Documentary coverage of your birth experience. Each birth story is a once in a lifetime experience for a parent and their arriving child.

My role as a birth photographer is to tactfully document the genuine moments of your labour, delivery, and extraordinary first interactions post-birth.

• Do I get a say in what is photographed?

Absolutely. I will capture as much of, or as little of your delivery as you are comfortable with and we will make an in-depth plan together.

We meet well before your due date to ensure you are comfortable and at ease with my presence in the birthing room, and to discuss what’s most important for you.

• How does it work?

I am on call for you 24/7 starting at 38 weeks. Once your labour begins, I will photograph from active labour until 1-2 hours postpartum. In the end you will have a beautiful documentary-style photo gallery of your birth experience.

• Can anyone book a birth photographer?

Yes, birth photography is inclusive of all types of birth including hospital, c-sections, and home births. As long as your care providers allow a photographer to be present, then you can hire a birth photographer.

• Can't my partner / doula take photos for me?

They sure can! However there are a lot of variables that might make you want to consider hiring a professional. Booking a birth photographer guarantees beautiful images even in dark rooms, harsh light, and busy environments. Plus, then your support team can be fully present for you instead of worrying about taking photos.

• When should I book?

Booking during the second trimester is recommended so that I can guarantee availability for you, so that you can take advantage of the payment plan option, and so that we can get to know each other.

Honest words from a mother:

“I was absolutely one of those people who, before having my baby, thought having a birth photographer in the delivery room would be strange and invasive. In retrospect, and especially after working with Jena for newborn baby photos, I am sad I didn’t have someone professional and thoughtful to help us remember his birth day.

My husband and I regularly reflect on everything we remember, but with all the chaos and exhaustion we know there is plenty we are missing. By the time our child is old enough to understand I know I will have forgotten most of the experience and I wish I had a better way to share with him how exciting his entrance into the world was for us. If I could do it again I would definitely consider birth photography a lot more seriously.”
