The Columbia Wetlands Outpost wedding venue has the vibe all wedding go-ers dream of (stunning outdoor views, all-night celebrations) and the natural tones film photographers dream of (summer greens, barn reds). Each wedding that I photograph there becomes a favourite. There is something about that red barn that makes for a great time and great photos.
My approach to their wedding day was to photograph everything as it happened in a documentary style. From our very first call together, we got along great and were on the same page about being present throughout the day. They said they would rather have a good time with each other and their guests than spend hours doing meaningless poses for the camera. When they look back on their wedding photos, they want to remember the moments that really happened.
Their wedding day felt like a reunion of people who all love each other very much. Everyone brought their biggest smiles and best dancing shoes. I’m sure Nalu (the dog) will be thinking about her post-ceremony hamburger for a long time.

They wanted their ceremony to roll right into the good times. To make this happen, we took most of their photos beforehand, except for a few quick family photos during cocktail hour.
One of the great things about the Columbia Wetlands Outpost wedding venue is the variety of photo locations. There is a field with mountain views, docks that let us explore the wetlands, and then the iconic red barn itself.
