For this family photography session we hiked the T1 peak at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort.

This is a special spot for them as it's one of their favourite hikes to do together, one that they even chose to hike on their wedding day —

In January, my two friends welcomed their baby boy, Bruno. He was immediately loved by all of their friends and family, myself included. It is a special experience to watch some of your closest friends become parents.

For their family photography session, we did the T1 hike at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort to recreate some of their wedding photos. The last time they did the hike was in their suit and wedding dress, this time was with a baby. When you combine a fun hike, great friends, their adorable baby, and an incredible view, you get some pretty magical photos. To this day this is still one of my favourite family photography sessions!

The morning of their family photo session, there was a big thunderstorm and we had to wait for it to pass first. Luckily, the weather moves through the mountains quickly. We enjoyed a quick coffee at the shop and then were back on schedule for family photos. After the gondola ride to the top of Kicking Horse Mountain, the sun was shining once again. It was a great day for their first hike together as a family.

The hike up T1 is relatively short and steep, but very rewarding. Imagine many rocky steps that bring you straight up the side of a mountain to a beautiful view of endless mountains. Bruno is lucky to have two parents that are confident amongst the mountains and who love to take him on adventures. I imagine this will be the first of many days out exploring the mountains together.
