Re: Throwing confetti correctly
A few days before their wedding at the CP Engineers House in Brooks, Alberta, the bride and I had an interesting conversation:
“It just occurred to me, I don’t know the logistics of confetti throwing at ceremonies. Should our officiant let our guests know to hang onto their cones until a cue? Do you have a process that you recommend?”
The question spoke to a theme I have been exploring lately: how do we plan just enough to give a wedding day structure, without it feeling too scripted?
We chatted a little, laughed, and there is no correct way to throw confetti.
Everyone intuitively knows how to let flower petals infused with well wishes leap from their palms and float down over people they love so much.
Ultimately, we agreed not to rob the cofetti-throwers of their joy by over-explaining their duties [spoiler alert, it was perfect].
Romantic LOTR Garden Wedding
CP Engineers House wedding — Brooks, Alberta
“Intimate, candid, welcoming, warm. Think of a mix of the Shire from The Lord of the Rings, the eclectic colours and textures of Romani bohemian weddings, and the setting of an English countryside garden party.
We want the day to feel romantic for the two of us, but at large, we want it to be a celebration of the gathering itself; having everyone together is what will make our day the most special. We’re lowkey people who just want to be together and present with our guests.”

If you’re looking for a photographer who documents the day naturally and unobtrusively, I would love to hear about what you’re planning.
