Slow Roll Sessions are short 35-minute photography sessions, using just one roll of 35mm film. They were designed to pause life for a moment and capture your family as you are. Slowing down to intentionally document this part of your life.

A Slow Roll Session is a 35-minute photography session, captured on one roll of 35mm film. It’s a slower, more intentional alternative to traditional mini sessions, focused on presence, connection, and timeless images.

For people comfortable letting go of a perfectly posed photo, ready to show up in front of the camera as they are. These sessions suit individuals, couples and immediate families. These are artistic sessions focused on candid storytelling. They are not meant for traditionally posed, formal portraits.

Throughout your slow roll photography session, you’ll enjoy an easy-going experience that leaves you feeling connected, with lasting family memories and candid images. We will spend 35 minutes together documenting your family as you are, with minimal posing.

Of course, I’ll offer gentle guidance to help everyone feel comfortable, but the focus will be on capturing images of your natural dynamics. Slow roll sessions are short, sweet, and deliver incredible results.

In a world trending toward faster and warmer, I value an analog process that stays tangible at every step.

The colours are beautiful, the images are soft and timeless. A roll of film constrains the artist to just 36 frames, creating space to be slow and intentional. To lead with their heart rather than rely on the limitless amount of digital images.

Rather than pressuring ourselves to get the perfect photo or meet forced expectations, I encourage you to embrace life as it is. This way, we create more meaningful, genuine photos.

The number 35 represents both the format (35mm film) and the session length (35 minutes). It’s a nod to my love of film photography and the idea that slowing down creates space for authentic moments.

We will use one roll of 35mm film during your session, so you will receive approximately 20 film scans. These can be downloaded (digitally) from an online gallery, which will be emailed to you 4 weeks after your session.

Slow Roll Sessions are offered yearly, every once in a while (as time allows). The best way to stay in the loop is to join my email list. If you’d like a custom date or location, my Family Sessions are perfect for that.
