We have seven children, is that ok?
I will never forget my phone call with their mother. She said we have seven kids, aged twelve years to seven months... will that be ok for family photos?
To be honest, I had never worked with a family that large before, but I loved every minute of it. I photographed these Banff family photos back in 2022, and they still remain a favourite session to this date.
First of all, each one of the kids was funny and kind. And they all worked well together as a team, which I guess you have to when you’re part of a large family.
Their family photography session felt like several moving parts going in different directions, but somehow working together beautifully. I would love to photograph a large family again.
I thrived on the mayhem. There was endless movement and interaction to photograph the entire time. At least two of the boys were telling jokes, the gals were running around, someone was trying to make the youngest laugh. It was the best.

What made you want to get Banff family photos?
“I love our family unit, the innocence of the little ones, the big kids who are still little as well, our family with young kids. In October, we have our first teenager, and time flies. It was only yesterday she was a baby, and I’m sure that in no time at all the kids will be bringing partners into our family. As sweet as that future is, I want to remember this time when it’s just us, with a sweet chubby little baby.
Also, the way they all love on the baby. Sibling love is the most incredible thing to watch.“
