Cool Kids Skip School for Family Photos
We originally had to reschedule this family photo session. And since the Fall is such a popular time for photos, the only time we could make work was a weekday morning. The universe smiled on our decision to show up to school and work a little bit late, and gave us the most beautifully sunny Fall morning we could have asked for.
Do you know how many fun forests and grassy trails there are to explore at Nose Hill Park? It’s one of my favourite places for family photos in Calgary. Throughout our photo session, I’m certain that the parents and I were having just as much fun as the kiddos. Race you over there, did you see that bird, wow the grass is taller than you are!
As with all of my family photography sessions, the only goal was to have fun and document their family in a way that felt authentic to them. For these family photos, it meant lots of play and lots of hugs. They love to be outside together, so we chose Nose Hill Park for their photography session.
The secret to great photos of your kids is to play with them. They are all (real) smiles as they have a good time. A family photo session with me follows the natural excitement as we explore a new area, the tender moments as everyone gets tired, and then the real interactions as we relax for a while at the end.

“How unique all of our kids are. How much they actually enjoy hanging out with us and each other. The innocence and playfulness of young kids. Capturing family photos of us in our element is what we are most looking forward to. One of us is often missing, or we are trying for a selfie.”
