A Cozy In-Home Family Photo Session
This in-home family photo session went exactly as you’d expect: older brothers obsessed with their baby sister, some tears, some enforced quiet time, lots of love. As a family photographer in Calgary, it was a perfect photo session. Everyone was comfortable in their own home, and the kids showed me around their favourite spaces and toys.
Did their mom and I subtly try to get them to play in the nice light and with more aesthetic toys? Maybe a little bit… but honestly, their in-home photo session time was spent being themselves and living their normal Saturday morning lives.
Of course, there is a part of us that wants the perfect and elusive “smile and say cheese” family photo. The paradox of it is that the perfect poses and moments show up once we stop chasing them.
